What it does
- Bans student use of personal electronic devices during regular instructional hours
- Districts must adopt a policy by October 31, 2025, and make it effective by January 1, 2026
- Policy must explain how devices will be stored during the school day
- Students cannot lose instructional time, including suspension or expulsion, for device violations
- Exempts devices for medical needs, IEP or 504 plans, and approved written exemptions
